About Speed Selector

Incorporated in the mid-1940's, Speed Selector began its operation in downtown Cleveland, Ohio by specializing in the design and manufacture of lawn tractor transmissions.

With a change in ownership, the company re-located to Chagrin Falls, Ohio in the mid-1950's, and began the development of a diverse line of variable speed pulley drives for general use in a broad spectrum of applications and equipment.

Successfully marketing to OEM and consumer customers alike in such diverse industries as machine tools, HVAC, and processing, packaging, woodworking, exercise and agricultural equipment, Speed Selector once again outgrew its physical plant, and opted to build a new 30,000 sq. ft. facility on three plus acres of land about forty minutes southeast of Cleveland proper, from which all design, engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and marketing functions are conducted.

The Secrets to Success

Speed Selector's growth into one of the world's largest producers of variable speed pulley drives stems from a steady stream of product design innovations, which in turn have led to its reputation for unsurpassed product quality and performance.

Equally significant in the company's growth has been its ability and willingness to accommodate the needs of its customers.

In this regard, Speed Selector has taken hundreds of altogether new products through the design, prototype, and production run stages in responding to specific application inquiries as well as generating nearly 800 modifications to its catalog standard products.
